Summer, light, airy and cool material in all its glory, but it is something very special when the leaves turn yellow and you get the chance to pick out your favorites from the autumn wardrobe. One of the great advantages of autumn is the possibility of combining soft materials of higher weight such as cashmere, flannel, and tweed in several layers, which contributes to both warmth and elegance.
Dressing elegantly in the summer can be more difficult than you think, as tailored garments often can feel misplaced during the holidays and 30-degree heat. For the autumn, it will instead be easier than ever to dress up as fabrics such as corduroy and flannel have a natural structure that can help to reduce the formality of both the suit and the jacket. Add to that the autumn wardrobe’s perhaps most important knitted garment; the roll neck, which depending on the thickness and rib can act as a substitute for both shirt and tie as well as summer t-shirts.
For the casual style of autumn, dark jeans in raw denim, field jackets, and softly constructed outer coats are perfect for both the country and a walk in the city. The summer loafers can in good conscience be combined with a pair of ribbed socks and worn well into the autumn during dry and sunny days before the heavier boots take over.
We have selected five garments that we think represent the cornerstones of the autumn wardrobe and our collection.
No pair of trousers is more versatile or more strongly associated with autumn than gray flannel trousers. The rugged surface makes the garment as easy to wear to an off-white polo shirt as a dark blue jacket and in combination with a pair of brown suede shoes, the whole look is complete. Our flannel trousers are single pleated, mid-rise high waist and are sold in raw length so the trouser length can be completely adjusted to the wearer.
Few things beat the feeling of pulling a soft roll neck over your head on a cold autumn morning. Perhaps the most elegant version of knitwear for autumn is available in both thin and coarse knitted designs where creamy white, dark blue, and gray are particularly suitable for autumn.
For dry autumn days, the navy, brown or light suede jacket is perfect as a more casual alternative. The matte, almost velvety luster gives the M65 jacket a sober and sophisticated impression. Combine with dark jeans, off-white flannel, or why not honey-colored corduroy trousers and a knitted sweater.
A tweed jacket does not have to feel either British or mossy. In a soft Italian construction with natural shoulders and minimal construction, the coarser fabric blends perfectly with flannel trousers as well as jeans, and the dogtooth pattern in beige and brown helps to give structure and life to the jacket.
For the colder days of autumn, there is nothing that beats the double-breasted overcoat. With a soft Italian construction like our jackets, this elegant coat can be dressed up and down with ease. For the autumn, we have developed a classic double-buttoned version in a gray wool and cashmere fabric.
